Animal-Assisted Therapies

Animal assisted therapies may involve many different types of animals including- dogs, cats, bunnies, horses, llamas and even elephants. It is well documented that nursing home residents perk up and alzheimer's patients receive wonderful sensory stimulation from small, specially trained animals. These animals typically receive many months of training. Some prisons have instituted rehabilitation programs that involve prisoners caring for and training the animals.
